Article I

The name of this organization shall be The Oklahoma State Secular Student Organization.


Article II Purpose: The purpose of this organization is to organize secularly minded people of Oklahoma State University to promote friendship and critical thinking. Furthermore the group will endeavor to provide education and foster understanding between religious and secular people.

Article III Officers: Section 1. The officers shall consist of a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

Section 2.

a.) Qualifications for officers in this organization are: An officer should be in good standing with the club, be enrolled in 12 or more hours, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. b.) Officers must be a member for at least one semester before they are eligible for election.


Section 3 The duties of the Officers Shall be to attend at least 3/4s of the meetings per semester. Officers shall be required to perform their duties as outlined in this constitution.


In order to run for president the person running must have been a member for at least 1 semester and must have come to 3/4s the meetings during the term of that person’s membership.

Terms of office- Terms of office will begin the fall semester and will run for one calendar school year.

Elections will be held for new officers at the end of spring semester for the next school year.


Duties of officers:

General responsibilities- Chalking and outreach.


President- The president will also be in charge of coordinating the activity of officers. The president should also be the public face of the group and shall speak for the group in all public forums. The president will also have the power to create new ad hoc committees at any time.

Vice president- The vice president will be in charge organizing the meeting and setting up the time and place. The vice president will have the responsibility of overseeing any ad hoc committees to ensure they fulfill their purpose. The vp will then report back to the president on progress of the ad hoc committees. The vice president will assume the duties of the president should the president ever become incapacitated or unable to represent the group for whatever reason.

Secretary- The secretary will be in charge of taking notes on what has transpired during meetings and activities. The secretary will also be in charge of attendance.

Treasurer- The treasurer will be in charge of collecting dues and purchasing necessary materials.


Section 4 The Elections of this organization shall be decided by popular vote among members not running for the particular office being decided. Non-members that attend meetings CAN NOT VOTE!

Article IV The quorum number shall be 50% + 1 person.

Article V Membership- All members must pay dues in order to participate in elections of voting decisions. Members will be expected to be civil and non-belligerent to any other people at any time. Members will be expected to be respectful at all times.


Article VI Dues- $5 per semester for all members and officers.

Article VII By-Laws- Be respectful or we will kick your ass out. Douchebaggery is not accepted.

Article VIII Reports to the Campus Life Office

Article IX Amendments

The group will have the right to expel members by a vote of ¾ or high. If members actively disrupt meetings in a fallacious or offensive way, then it will be grounds for removal.
